Understanding S4's Ingame UI Empty
PostSubject: Understanding S4's Ingame UI   Understanding S4's Ingame UI EmptyTue Feb 16, 2016 9:49 pm

So S4 league looks like a cluster fk, let's be honest here, a lot of games handle the UI badly and it is just a confusing mess for anyone new to the game.

So let's try to make sense of all this text and icons everywhere.

While in a match, you can type to other players or you can use quick chat options to specify certain commands for situations like when in Touchdown pressing q on the keyboard and then 6 will use a quick chat command to say that the ball/fumbi will reset or you're requesting someone to reset the ball/fumbi. When in a match, pressing q or e will then pop up these options.

A lot of players tend to spam q and 1 or q and 2 so be ready to hear voices.. all the time lol. I personally use q and 5 a lot cause I suck at the game. Now that we know what q commands do, lets talk about e commands. E is like emoticons and / commands in other games, S4 is no different we have three different dances for corns sake. Using e and 1 will make your character wave and say Hi where as using e and 7/8/9 will make them do Rock! Paper! Scissors! and 0 for either q or e will cancel that function.

Moving on let's talk about when you die in S4.
It's gonna happen and it's gonna happen a lot. You spawn, you shoot at people and you die. Your pixels become little 1's and 0's and green mist and you go to the magical respawn timer.

Let's look at this UI for a moment. While you're dead you are prompted with a few options if the buff bar is available. 1 and 2 on the bar will activate for 50 pen each and everytime you kill someone while those buffs are active you gain a little extra pen or exp per kill. In my opinion unless you go on a kill streak they're not worth wasting 50 pen when you're new to the game, keep your in game money. Option/buff 3 is an instant respawn but it's not available in certain modes like Touchdown but it is available in Deathmatch so you don't have to wait on the timer. Sometimes it's worth using pen for this one like if your team is down by a few kills and the match is almost over and you know you can turn that shyt around. Otherwise I don't usually use that buff. 4 is the tracking buff, this one is usually used for revenge kills, some arsehole killed you five times in a row and you're fuming? Turn that shyt on and follow the target indicator and take him/her out. Sometimes worth it.. sometimes. 5 and 6 are HP and SP buffs, they add a little more hp or sp to your overall hp/sp bars and by a little I do mean a little. If they didn't update them from the last time I tried them out, we're talking like an additional +5 to hp/sp and in my opinion not worth losing 100-200 pen for each activation. If you accidentally activate a buff while in the death screen, hit that number a second time and it'll deactivate it saving your pen so long as you deactivate it before you spawn again.

Another thing to take note of is the weapon box on the mid right side of the screen, this is to show you what you were killed by. In this case, I was killed by a Sigma Blade. This feature was added in to help against hackers and people who can't follow rules. This weapon in particular is fine, the enchants are a little high but it's a legit weapon. This is also to stop those from using premium weapons in a pen match(pen match refers to when players can only use weapons with a +1 attack and clothes with a +5 defense, they're bought straight out of the shop for pen) where as premium is bought from the cash shop and has higher stats.

Moving on, while in a match if you hit the Tab key you should see this.

Look at that cluster fk of information, amazing. With the tab key pressed, you'll see on the left a map, this is during a touchdown/TD match so it shows the goals(the red and blue icons) and the fumbi spawn point(the lil guy in the middle). To the right of the map you'll see both teams, Alpha and Beta. Your character's name will be highlighted so you can find yourself easier. This is an easy way to check how many points you have, who scored the ball and checking internet connection/pings between players to see if someone is lagging(Lower pings/Green pings mean they're usually not lagging, Mid pings/blue pings mean there could be slight lag or distance lag so they might have irregular movement but not much to make the match unplayable and High pings/Red pings mean they most likely do lag a lot and could have irregular movement/delayed hits/teleportation issues). This is also the easiest way to see who is alive at the moment and who is dead. Regardless of if you have the tab key pressed or not, in the upper right corner you'll also see the kill chat. You'll see who died by what and who picked up the ball in that chat.

Next let's talk about Half time.

Certain modes in S4 will have a Half Time, Touchdown/TD and Deathmatch/DM for instance.
The games/matches are split into two halves. During Half Time you're given a time limit and prompted if you would like to change characters for the second half or not. This gives players an option to change up how they play for the second half and can mean a comeback in matches if losing.

Once you unlock your second and third character, they'll appear in the other two slots. You can click on the tabs Char.1, Char.2 or Char.3
to change. In order to change to that character, they will need at least one weapon and one skill equipped to be usable. Also during Half time you can see what mission you're currently working on and how much progress you've made in the upper left corner.
