An Unlikely Assassin Empty
PostSubject: An Unlikely Assassin   An Unlikely Assassin EmptySun Oct 02, 2011 5:34 am

The other ToP story(this one I think everyone's seen the beginning of on nd3 forums?) anyway, this one was on ND3 forums till Shan disbanded the whole site and then again at paradise but we all know what happened there x x so here it is again to be posted, perhaps I can even finish it this time! lol So again I'll take time to update cause I wanna go over it again and edit.

I won't be posting up the SS's for chars this time cause you guys already seen em' If anyone doesn't remember them or didn't see the SS's let me know I'll re post em' Enjoy :3

Prologue:

In the land of Ascaron many people live together in the three main cities of Argent, Shaitan, and Icicle. These three cities have always relied on each other for imports, exports and protection from the creatures that inhabit Ascaron. But all is not well in this blessed land, the King of Thundoria, an outer kingdom that barely comes in contact with the three cities, has changed and now wants complete control over them. Recently many wars have broken out between Thundoria and Argent, taking hundreds of lives. Buildings and hearts alike have been torn due to these recent fights and invasions. Argent was taking great losses and desperately needed to end this disaster. A new Ambassador was quickly chosen and gave peace treaties to take to Thundoria as soon as possible. Rin Katsukova, the youngest Ambassador chosen in the history of any city, steps forward in hopes of reaching an agreement between the City of Oceans and the Iron Kingdom. Her journey soon begins but there are many obstacles awaiting her, one threat that can't be missed is an assassin lurking in the shadows. Saimei, sent to take Rin's life before she can end the war and destroy his master’s business, so close to completing his task; what’s stopping him?

Rosenburg’s Chainmail & Wares Shoppe

Daina stood up, let out a frustrated sigh and tore up the message. She crossed the room to where Saimei had been sitting. "She can't be allowed to do this and we won't let her. You hear me Sai?" Daina said firmly, leaning on the oak table in front of him. "Yes Daina, what would you like me to do?" he asked as he stood up, keeping his eyes on her. "I want you to kill her you incompetent fool." Daina said raising her voice. She threw the map on the table, and then turned away. "Memorize this location and which room it is. Make sure to wait till well after dusk and then make your move. Get this over and done with quickly, I can’t have this little girl around for long and risk losing business. Don’t disappoint me this time." She said as she took the picture back off the table.

"As you wish." he sighed while he glanced across the room just as Bakard came through the entrance. Bakard Silvah, the only person Saimei could say he hated the most without any doubt. When Saimei looked at him, all he could think of is how much he’d love to be given the assignment to end him. “Ah Bakard, you’re back fast, you finished your assignment so soon?” Daina asked as she walked over to her new ‘toy’. “It was too easy; the bastard was done in about ten minutes. Why don’t you give me some more hard missions?” He said grinning, as he sat down in the arm chair in front of the table. Daina sat down on the chair’s arm and handed him an envelope, “Here’s your pay, there’s some extra for the timing, but don’t get too cocky, I have some guards for you to dispose of.” She glanced back over at Saimei noticing he hadn’t left yet and was blatantly staring at their display. “Having a problem teleporting Sai?” She asked arching an eyebrow. Saimei snapped out of his glare and redirected his attention to her, “Oh, no I was just leaving. Funny how when I had to do a similar mission and got done four hours early I never got such a pay raise. Bakard, keep up what you’re doing…hm rather who you’re doing.” He said grabbing his daggers. Bakard let out a laugh and pushed the envelope in his pocket as Daina drew in a breath, and stood up, obviously not amused by Saimei’s comments. "You should watch your tongue Saimei; you don’t have to be working here. Now just GO and don't come back until this nuisance is dead!" And with that last command she walked to her bedroom, Bakard following not too far behind her. He grinned at Saimei before tightly shutting the door behind him.

Saimei glanced back at the closed door and drew in a breath. “Asshole.” He cleared his head and put his daggers in their sheathes. As he started to think about the assignment he looked away from the door. "How could this night be anymore torture?" He thought. Little did he know the ‘torture,’ was just beginning.

Argent City Hall

"Tomorrow is the beginning of a new age my friends. We can and will stop this devastating war. No longer should Argent, Shaitan and Icicle fear the army and King of Thundoria. They are mere humans too are they not? I will go and request a peace treaty signing from King Thundorian himself. I’m sure if he will just listen to reason, he will sign this treaty without a second thought. But this effort could never be enough, I need all of you to help by not standing by and watching the destruction happen every day. Please make this world a better place by not giving into anger and frustration; please don't fight with traveling traders from Thundoria and Chaldea. I know it is hard and tedious but we can save so many more lives this way. If we all just do our part and keep our word, then they will respond in a similar manner. I promise to do everything I can to aide this peace. I want to thank you all for coming and I will start on my way tomorrow." After Rin said her thanks, she stepped away from the podium and exited off the platform. She took a deep breath of relief, even though she has given speeches before, it was intimidating every time she had to talk to a crowd. In the back of her mind she always feared she’d fall off the stage or faint. Sometimes she wondered why she accepted to be ambassador even with her fears. Even with some fears, she knew why she had to do this, she lost enough to this war and she knew the King of Thundoria, she had to find out why he would change all of the sudden. Rin’s thoughts were cut short by a familiar voice, "That was another amazing speech Rini." Stephen said, captain of her body guards and one of her childhood friends as he made his way over to her. "Thank you Stephen, I just hope I can be that convincing so the King will aide us. It’s been pretty much Hell since I lost my brother and sister to this war." Rin exclaimed as they both stepped outside. "They were always willing to help, I miss them as well." Stephen sighed as he watched the remaining light from the sun fade over the ocean. He walked her to the hotel, inside and up the stairs till they came to a door with the numbers 216 embedded on a plaque. "Well, here is your room, you should get some rest. Big day tomorrow." Stephen said with a tired smile. Rin glanced back at him with a reassuring smirk and said, "Thanks for escorting me, good night Stephen." He stayed right outside of her room as she entered and closed the door tight behind her. She sat down on the bed and stared down at the floor, looking past all the fibers of carpet, "can I really convince him to help even after all that’s happened?"

PostSubject: Re: An Unlikely Assassin   An Unlikely Assassin EmptyMon Oct 03, 2011 2:10 am

yes this is the story kayli X3 and you'll know when it gets to that part lol

Somewhere in the city of Argent

Saimei teleported one block from the ocean side hotel in which Rin was currently staying at. He walked down the block and looked up at the building, “This has to be it.” He scaled the building with the grace only an assassin could master. He had no problem finding the right window, as he had memorized the building's layout. He looked inside at the room, searching for any movement and once he thought it was clear he slowly opened the window. Within seconds he was inside, careful not to bump into any furniture. He thought to himself of the target as he lightly stepped closer to the bed, this should be easy. The target is a woman, so no problem strength wise if awakened and it was very late, so she'll be asleep. This assignment was a piece of cake. As he silently crept along the wall to her bed, he soon realized something was very wrong. There was no one in the bed. Where was this target, he thought as he came to a dead stop. He looked around and noticed the room looked empty, could this be the wrong room? The silence was soon broken, "Looking for someone?" Rin whispered as she stood up from her chair, back towards him. Saimei stepped back, surprised by her appearance. She was prepared for this; she had her coat on, just in case she needed to escape. "How did you-" Saimei began. "How did I know? How stupid did you expect me to be assassin?" Rin interrupted, turning around to face her pursuer. "It's rather simple, the last Ambassador was killed in his sleep, and I haven't slept in a bed since I became Argent’s new Ambassador." He was taken back by this turn of events. He looked at her and couldn’t believe how young she was, this was no old bat ambassador, he shook his head and remembered his task at hand, "Then you know what I must do?" he asked stepping a bit closer, not really wanting a response. Rin stepped back a bit, "You don't have to do anything, it’s what you're told to do, is it not?" she countered pulling at her coat. "If I am not mistaken you, are a slave, aren't you?" She added with a slanted smirk. "This conversation is over; I have no time for your assumptions Ms. Katsukova." He said stepping closer, raising his arm drawing his dagger from the sheathe on his left shoulder. "Well then I guess there’s no turning back." Rin said as she stepped towards the door, in a second she threw a metal ball to the floor. Just as it hit, it unleashed a blinding white light for a brief moment. A faulty flash grenade but in those few seconds, she ran out the door but Saimei was soon to follow. She ran past Stephen, nearly knocking him to the floor. Stephen was quick to react as he regained his balance. He drew his bow and reached for an arrow from the quiver over his left shoulder. "Rin! Keep your head down!" Stephen yelled as he began shooting at her pursuer. Saimei tried to weave in and out to dodge the arrows but was unlucky enough to get hit by one. The only luck he had was that the arrow only grazed him on his mid section. But even so, he was slowed down and soon was being outrun by his target. Rin dashed down the steps and yelled out so every guard, employee and guest in the hotel heard. Saimei grew tired of this cat and mouse game and was becoming exhausted from his wound. There was no way he wanted to deal with guards, let alone civilians. He decided to take a faster route, he charged past Stephen, risking a barrage of arrows and jumped through the second story window.

Outside Argent’s gates

Rin ran into the nearby forest, praying the trees and bushes would be good cover. She was sure if she could just make it to Mine haven she could get others to help her. She turned around to see her progress from town, she was making good distance. Just as she turned back around she heard rustling coming from the shrubs in front of her. Saimei jumped out stopping Rin right in her tracks. She stepped back from him, grabbing at her coat. Her eyes widened as it sunk in that there really was no other place to run now. Saimei stepped forward to close the gap, grabbing his dagger from the sheath again. "Stop this game dammit. It’s over, why don't you accept the inevitable?" He whispered growing impatient. Broken glass still falling off his clothes, blood trickling down his arm. Rin looked around praying to see any sign of her guards, "You must be misinformed then. You should know I never give up on what I start." Rin said as she reached for her coat pocket. Saimei tried to step closer realizing she must be getting another trick, but quickly fell to one knee and groaned in pain as he grasped at his side. The blood just kept coming and he couldn't recover from it. Rin held the revolver up and aimed for the point between Saimei's eyes. He looked up and tried to stand but kneeled back down in anguish, he knew at this rate it was useless. Rin loosened her grip on the gun as she peered over at her pursuer. She realized he looked no older than she was, if anything he looked younger. Rin stood there, still unable to pull the trigger.

"Well, finish it then!" He shouted at her. "I...” Rin looked away from him and down at the ground. She didn’t even notice that she let the gun fall from her hand until it hit the ground close to where her gaze fell. "I can't, I’m not like you," she thought as she lifted her head and stared at him again. She walked over to him cautiously and knelt down beside him. She made him move his hand so she could check the wound. That effort alone made Saimei wince. His natural reaction led him to hit her, sending her backwards falling to the ground on her behind. Leaving a bright red mark on her cheek, she looked back at him with a heavy note of surprise on her face. Stubbornly she stood back up, took off her coat and ripped a long section off her night gown. She used the fabric to tie around his mid section. This rip in her gown left quite a show of her legs that Saimei couldn't help himself but to look. He shook his head and stared back at her face, confused by this new side of her.

"What the Hell do you think you're doing?" He questioned her actions. "Trying to stop the bleeding you idiot, what does it look like?" She said stretching the fabric making sure it wouldn't tear when he moved. "And why would you do that, are you crazy or something?" he countered, trying to move back from her. To no avail she moved closer finishing up the wrap. "Well it may be crazy but it’s saving your life. My own motto as Ambassador is 'No one will be Left to Die.' It would look bad don't you think if I left you to die, wouldn't it?" Rin said trying to justify herself, standing up and putting her coat back on. "Now hold still, this isn't going to feel too good." She said as she knelt down and pressed firmly down to tie a knot to hold the fabric. At the sudden pressure on his abdomen Saimei let out another painful gasp.

"That hurts! Couldn't you take it easier on my side!?" he yelled. "You hit me and that hurt! So now we’re even. Besides it might hurt now but its going to save your sorry life." she yelled back. For some reason Saimei felt a pang of guilt run through him, now remembering he did hit her when she first checked him. "I don't see why you’re doing this. Just a second ago you were all for shooting me in the head and now you’re trying to take care of me. Would you make up your fucking mind?" he said looking away from her. "Just shut up and be thankful that I gave a damn. Oh and by the way, you're welcome." She said, standing up again, turned and looked up at the sky, noticing the stars slowly fading. Then she added, "Look the sun will be up in an hour, just go back wherever you came from and quit this assassin thing, you're no good at it anyway." She chuckled at this last comment. Saimei slowly got up and looked at her with suspicion and a little bit of anger at her comment. "I don't understand you Ms. Ambassador; you could've died tonight and now you're laughing as if nothing ever happened. You are either the dumbest person in the world or perhaps the kindest, maybe both. But in the end, both of those qualities will get you killed. You're pretty cunning but you definitely need better bodyguards." With those last words he teleported away.

Rin was left standing there with an ackward smile on her face. She picked up the gun and put it back in her coat pocket, after making sure the safety was on. To her surprise, it had been on the entire time, she let out a giggle at the realization she couldn’t have shot it in time if she really needed it. She then turned and started walking back to the hotel. On the way back she bumped into the guards who were so desperately trying to find her. She laughed on the inside to herself of what they would think if she told them she aided her pursuer or the fact that she had a gun but didn’t even take the safety off when she needed it most. "Rin! Thank Kara that you are alive and well. Where were you?" Stephen exclaimed with a sigh of relief at the sight of her unharmed. Rin walked back in with her group of guards and took rest leaning against Stephen. "I was in the forest leading the assassin away from the building so I would lose him. I'm quite tired from all this running but it paid off. He must’ve gave up and teleported somewhere." She said looking up at the sky. Stephen looked at her in disbelief, "I am just so glad that you are unharmed. I can understand you must be exhausted, come with me and we will make arrangements to postpone your journey to Thundoria by a day or two." he said. "Postpone?! I can go now, I’m unharmed and ready!" She shouted in dismay. "You just had a near death experience with that assassin; we need time to plan ahead. Please Rini, as a friend, I'm worried." He pleaded with her. Rin let out a sigh, "If you think it best Stephen, then I will remain here for now." They all walked back into the hotel. Before Rin entered, she glanced back to the forest, where just minutes before, she met the most interesting person she ever had and for some odd reason, wished that he was still around.

PostSubject: Re: An Unlikely Assassin   An Unlikely Assassin EmptyThu Oct 06, 2011 7:35 am

Don't go on a hunting party guys lol I'm sure that person doesn't even remember me, so no worries. I was offended back then enough to let it get to me but since then I just learned that not everyone will be nice enough to sugar coat their dislike of my stories X3 and heres another update~

Somewhere below Rosenburg’s Chainmail & Wares Shoppe

Saimei arrived back at Daina's hideout soon after the ordeal with the Ambassador. He stumbled into his old room and fell onto his bed. The room was left the same since he last used it. "It's been a long time since I had to lay on this mattress, it’s still rock hard as ever." He thought to himself as he squirmed around trying to not disturb his side. No use, once again he felt the sting of pain from his mid section. He sat back up and started to unravel the strip of fabric that Rin had used, and saw that the damage was already going away. Thank Kara I can heal fast, this could've been more serious. He stared at the floor trying to think, "Dammit! How am I supposed to explain this to Daina?" he thought as he punched the wall. "So yeah Daina, I couldn't kill a woman, she was able to outrun me and I ended up wounded by her imbecilic bodyguards. Then to top it all off, the target took care of me. And oh yeah, perhaps I forgot to mention? She also let me go! Like that will ever work, guess I’ll have to lie, again. I'm so damn screwed." He said this aloud to himself, just to hear how ridiculous it sounded.

A few minutes went by as Saimei tried to come up with a good enough lie. His few minutes were cut even shorter as the door swung open and Daina entered the room. She gave him an alarmed gaze as she noticed the wound on his mid section. She sat in the arm chair adjacent to the bed and looked at the wall beside it, where a painting hung. There was an ackward silence in the air, but that didn't last long. "You didn't kill her did you Sai?" Daina sighed in frustration. Saimei looked up at her for a second; shocked that she knew of his failure already. "How did you know?" He said looking down at the floor in disgrace. Daina took her gaze off the painting and now looked at him. "Oh I don't know.. it's called word travels fast you idiot!" Daina yelled angrier now. "What’s wrong with you?! I gave you a simple task to kill this Ambassador and you come back wounded. Can't you do anything right?" He winced at this last comment and then tried to explain. "B-but I tried, I got into the Ambassador's room but she wasn't in her bed, s-she knew somehow that-" Saimei was cut off here, for Daina got up and back handed him across the face. "Dammit Saimei! I give you a place to live, a place to hide from the world and all I ask is that you kill some bitch or bastard when I tell you to and you can't even do that, you ungrateful whelp." she scolded him. "I'm s-sorry Daina, I-" He pleaded. "Stop being sorry and useless. Just do your damn job!" Daina made sure this last command stuck with him. Then she demanded, "Listen and listen good. You will do this assignment and you will complete this task, If you don’t’, you will be disowned and never allowed back here! Understood?!" There was silence hanging in the room and then Saimei attempted almost inaudibly, "Yes Daina." "What was that?" Daina berated him. "Yes Daina!" He shouted, at that moment he felt like that of a broken soul.

Daina led him back out to the briefing room. She stood at the map of Ascaron and drew a circle around Argent. Saimei stared at the city in the circle and memorized more of its landmarks and the location of the sea-side bar. The pictures were burned into his mind. "Now, for your assignment. You will go back to this... bitch and swear your allegiance to her.” Saimei raised an eyebrow at what she said. “Since you're having such a difficult time killing her, you're going to swear your false allegiance, Sai. Then, when you have gained her trust, when she lowers her guard, I want you to, I don't know. Stab her in the back, break her neck, I don't really care but just kill this annoyance. You hear me?" Saimei looked away from the map and stared at Daina nodding. "You have my orders, now go!" She yelled. "Yes Daina." He said as he turned away and prepared to teleport.

The Salt Water Tavern

At a little brown bar table, Rin sat impatiently, awaiting Stephen to return with the new plans. She sat with her legs crossed and was rapping her fingers against the oak table top. Saimei teleported inside the bar near Rin, right beside her to be precise. This sudden action startled her so much that she fell off the chair. She struggled to get back up off the floor, while trying not to expose herself since she was wearing a skirt. While Rin was startled by Saimei's presence, he was shocked at his own thoughts. He couldn't get the image of Rin in her night gown out of his mind. How could he be thinking about the woman he was supposed kill, in such an indecent manner. It was unacceptable and not possible. He snapped out of his little dilemma and continued with what he had to do. "Excuse me for my intrusion. But I need to talk to you in private, right now. If you don't mind." He said, trying to keep his gaze away from her. "Well, if I were to say yes, am I going to die?" Rin challenged with a smirk. "Do you always take things with a humorous tone? Never mind, just follow me outside please." Saimei said, obviously not amused at her comment.

She followed him out of the swinging doors and to the side of the bar. She leaned against the wall and stared at him, waiting for whatever it was he wanted to talk to her about. She had to admit she was pretty intrigued by what it could be. Saimei stood perfectly still and finally began to talk after a few minutes of silence, trying to keep on task. Even with his trouble keeping his eyes on the wall she was leaning on and not her, he pressed on. "I want to be one of your body guards," he said in a rush and then began again more slowly. "What I mean is that I want to swear my allegiance over to you." Rin was taken back by his sudden change, "Is this a joke? Are you completely serious or sane for that matter, because you seem confused. First you try to kill me and now this? You need to make up your mind or maybe check into the nearest bin." Rin said with a wide grin. Saimei drew in a rough breath, he couldn't believe how annoyed he was getting just by her words, "You know something, you should follow your own advice sometime, cause last night you were all for shooting me and yet you helped me. I thought about the advice you gave me last night, about giving up being an Assassin and I'm completely serious. Let’s be honest here, your other bodyguards can't do their jobs for shit, and I know they can't do as well as I could, if given the chance. Now, will you accept my offer or are you going to trust a bunch of twits with your life?" he countered tired of her challenges. Rin looked at the ocean behind him and then back at his face, "Is this a change of heart or are you still planning to kill me?" She chuckled, but then after a few seconds, gave him a serious glance. "I am trying to be serious; I want to serve you... Ms.Katsukova." He said in a cautious tone. Rin stood up straight and stepped closer, "Alright then, swear yourself over to me and I won't question your intentions from here on." she said with a straight face.

Saimei moved to be aligned with her. Rin looked at him with a curious gaze, more than a little confused. 'Was he really serious?' she thought to herself. He then proceeded to kneel down in front of her and took her right hand. 'What on earth is he doing?' She thought as she almost couldn't stop herself from bursting into laughter when she saw this. However she controlled herself when she realized he was more than serious. As Saimei started swearing over to her; he looked her square in the eye as he did so. Anything to gain her trust quickly. "To my Ambassador Ms.Katsukova,” his pledge was cut off. Rin let out a small laugh, “If you’re going to be my bodyguard you have to stop with this ‘Ms.Katsukova’ thing. Makes me think you’re talking to my mother and not me. So why don’t you just call me Rin,” she finished with a smile. Saimei wasn’t familiar with formalities between bodyguards and their superiors but he was sure they didn’t go by a first name basis. Still, if he was going to get this assignment over with, he thought he better do as she said and not put up too much of a stubborn front. “Alright, to my Ambassador Rin, I, Saimei Tristrame, hereby swear my life over to her and forsake all others. I will give my life to protect hers and always find a way for her to overcome any problem blocking her path. No one shall ever harm her, as long as I am serving her." He finished and then added with a smirk, "Not bad for a guy who has no idea how your other bodyguards swore in." Rin laughed at Saimei for a split-second. She cleared her throat trying to be more professional. "They signed a waiver, but that sweet string of could-be-lies has oh so swayed me to let you join." She chastised lightly. She let a smile slip as she realized what just happened in his wording. No one shall ever harm me as long as you're serving me hm? Wonder how long that will be indeed.

As he stood back up, Stephen came over the bridge towards the bar. When he fully saw Saimei he picked up a run in Rin's direction. He stopped when he was a few feet away, pulled out his bow and aimed it. Rin straightened up, and Saimei bristled at Stephen's actions. The tension in the air was almost tangible. "Get away from her you shameless bastard!" Stephen yelled at him. As he yelled this, Rin stepped in front of the bow's path, "Stephen put that away, you can't shoot him without reason!" He was dumb-founded at the orders. His bow lowered a bit still shocked. "But... but he's the assassin from last night. Rin he's the one who tried to kill you, I’d recognize him even in a crowd. Y-you can't be serious?" Stephen said in a bewildered voice. Rin let out a sigh, "Stephen he isn't the assassin, he is in the guard now and has just sworn over his own life to me. As you know, that means he is now up-graded to my Personal Bodyguard." She said in banter like voice, not hiding her smile now. "Rin no, but that means he-" Stephen was now pleading. Saimei looked from Rin to Stephen and back again, confused by what they were talking about. "That means he is taking your place as the closest guard to me. You are now down-graded to floor infantry Stephen." She quipped. Stephen lowered his bow fully and put it back in its holder behind him. He continued to look down at the ground with a disappointed look on his face. How could she let this happen, was his biggest question. He was more horrified than disappointed.

Rin walked over to Stephen and gave him a half hug to reassure him that everything was alright. “What does that exactly mean Ms…? Err Rin?” Saimei asked, wanting to know what he got himself into. Rin turned and walked back over to Saimei who was trying to relax since the bow was put away, he didn't want a repeat of what happened last night. “It means that you’ll be staying by my side during this passage to Thundoria, if anything goes wrong and someone tries to kill me, you are going to be the first one to react-“ She was cut off by Stephen, “It basically means, if someone fires at her or charges her, you’re taking the hit.” He said still not looking up, more angry now. Turning back to Stephen on her heel, "Thank you for your two years of service always standing by my side but it is time to pass that torch to our new member." She ended with a smile. Then she returned her gaze to Saimei with a smirk on her face, "So, think you can handle protecting me?"

Well, just don't let idiots like that guy get to you, your writing is good and if they have problems with it, I'd like to see their work.

On topic: FFFF Daina's a real bitch, more than I remember, did you change some of her dialogue since last time?

Daina is a real biatch but i"m alittle confused, why does Rin let him join so easily? I didn't finish your other chapters yet but seems really dumb to just let him in o_o

You'll see ^ just keep reading when she updates, everything has a reason, Amell just likes to leave a lot of questionable things out in the open at first glance
